Here's the Thing

Commissioned by IYAF Kingston Is Our Canvas

Composer educator Timothy Cape (Bastard Assignments) and I made an audio-visual public art installation together with twenty-eight 9 year olds from Lovelace Primary School. The children explore texture, colour and shapes in relation what they now know about safety, being alone, dealing with your adults and friendship. In this process, we’ve played (some for the very first time) with analogue photography and the recording and recreation of local sound environments. For this project, IYAF paired me up with an amazing mentor Alex Wright AKA Wreckage International

Here’s The Thing is located in Riverside Walk Tunnel under Kingston Bridge from the 8 - 18 July 2016 as part of the International Youth Arts Festival in Kingston (London, UK). There are two MP3 players in the tunnel, bring your own headphones and plug into what we’ve made together.

Here’s The Thing is commissioned by International Youth Arts Festival Kingston and supported by Creative Youth and Arts Council England.
